Biodiversity Survey of Hospital Sites in Northern Ireland

Aulino Wann & Associates were commissioned by Health Estates Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety to carry out a biodiversity survey and digitized GIS mapping of all ecologically sensitive features at six hospital sites (St Luke’s Hospital, Armagh, Gransha Hospital Derry, Ulster Hospital, Belfast, Knockbracken Healthcare Park, Belfast, Antrim Area Hospital, and Causeway Hospital Coleraine). Cost-effective recommendations were compiled to guide conservation land management in order to protect and enhance the biodiversity of each site. The project involved an extensive consultation period with all relevant Health Trust and Health Estates staff and other statutory and community stakeholders.

Biodiversity Survey of Inishfree Upper and Inishmeane, Co Donegal

Aulino Wann & Associates carried out a biodiversity survey of the islands of Inishfree Upper and Inishmeane, County Donegal, a project funded by the Heritage Council and supported by Donegal County Council. The data collected will guide best practice conservation management of the sensitive habitats, flora and fauna on the islands including machair, wet heath and blanket bog as well as the threatened corncrake (Crex crex) and chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax).
